Medical Program/Mobile Surgical Unit

Members of 100Igbos came together with Buses International (Cleveland, Ohio), to convert a 37 foot Chevrolet trailer, with an Isuzu engine into a state-of-the-art Mobile Surgical Unit (MSU). The MSU is durable and very suitable for use in Nigeria. It was transported to Nigeria in 2010 and under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Eastern Nigeria Medical Center, is housed on their grounds when not on the road.

The clinic houses a diagnostic lab, an operating room, a doctors’ prep area, and is fully air-conditioned. It also has a water tanker with a filtration system, a generator, and has dual voltage capability.

The unit is equiped with the following medical equipment:

  • Pulse Oximetry Machine
  • Operating Table
  • Portable X-Ray
  • Machine Portable Ultrasound Machine with Echo
  • Anesthesia Machine

Education

Members of 100 Igbos know the importance of continuing education in the medical field. With this program, medical professional are able to transfer their knowledge to peers and medical students alike. Under this program, the organization has also provided necessities such as stethoscopes to medical students.
