Haiti Fund

Dear Friends,

Many of us watched with heavy hearts, the images showing the plight of our Haitian brothers and sisters in the aftermath of the natural disaster that hit their country in January of 2010. As the world rallies to stretch out a helping hand, the members of 100Igbos USA INC., call on our family members, friends, and all Ndigbo, to join us in a united worldwide Igbo effort to bring relief to Haiti.

We need not remind you of the common ancestry we share with Haitians, nor of how Haitians rushed to our aid in our time of need. It seems now, that out of this misfortune, we have been given an opportunity to show our love and gratitude.

To help our brethren in a meaningful way, 100Igbos will partner with the Igbo League and the Daughters of Divine Love (DDL), an order of nuns founded by the late Bishop Godfrey Okoye, in 1969. The sisters, the majority of whom are of Igbo descent, have been operating in Haiti for over three years. They were, site n’amara Chineke (by God’s special Grace), spared from harm during the quakes. The demand for their services has increased and far exceeds their meager resources. Their work will be greatly helped by our contributions. They do so much with so little and their need is urgent. Please follow the link to learn more about the sisters.

When the immediate crisis is over, 100Igbos, in collaboration with Igbo League, the DDL, and with the group, Haiti Outreach Mission (HOM), will carry out medical missions in Haiti. Our engagement in Haiti will be on-going and we will need volunteers as we work to rebuild lives, families, and communities. All donations made to 100Igbos Special Haiti Relief Fund are tax deductible to the full extent allowable by law. These funds will be used for outreach to Haiti, as 100Igbos will underwrite all administrative costs.

Please heed this call. Let us unite to do the right and honorable thing and help our kin in Haiti. Let us show them that we have not forgotten their kindness towards us. Thank you.
